After Cheryl witnesses her father's tragic death in a riding accident, she is sent to live with her last remaining relatives, the Lane Family, on their country ranch. Hoping to overcome her fear of horses, Cheryl is introduced to Black Beauty and the two soon form an unbreakable friendship. Meanwhile, the wicked local mayor, Bart Williams, has heart set on acquiring the Lane ranch and will stop at nothing to oust the family from their beautiful land. It is now up to Cheryl and Black Beauty to save the family and the ranch before the evil mayor destroys her newfound home.
