Araya is a French-Venezuelan documentary. The movie tells the story of workers who extract salt from the earth off the coast of the Araya peninsula in Venezuela. The method for extracting the salt has been the same for centuries and involves hard labor. The work results in meager income for the families of the workers. The film concludes with the introduction of a salt extraction plant, which could eliminate many of the salt extraction jobs in the country.
