A young man living in southern California has a happy life whom he shares with a lovely female friend he has known since childhood. She is romantically involved with another man who is a violent member of a gang. Her boyfriend becomes jealous of the young woman's childhood friend and terrible things happen to the girl. The boy wants to get revenge for his friend, but with the help of a local archaeologist, discovers an amazing underground world through which he might actually be able to get something better than revenge -- the redemption of his sweet childhood friend.
