After its completion, of the production crew claimed that director Abdellatif Kechiche treated them badly during production. The film's two stars also complained about the director's behavior and said they would not work with him again. The actresses later recanted their stories somewhat. For his part, Kechiche thought the negative press "sullied" the film irreparably.
