Captain John Smith And Pocahontas is a 1953 adventure film that tells the story of the early colonial period when the British began to explore America's east coast. The film follows the adventures of Captain John Smith, who is sent on a mission by England's King James to explore and establish a colony in the New World, which is now Virginia.

The film begins with Captain John Smith, played by Anthony Dexter, setting sail from England to explore the New World. Upon landing, he immediately sets out to explore, and in doing so, he antagonizes a local tribe of Native Americans, led by Chief Powhatan, with whom he has many confrontations.

During one of his outings, Smith meets Pocahontas, the daughter of Chief Powhatan. She is charmed by Smith, and the two begin to have a romantic relationship. However, their relationship is put to the test when the colonists come into conflict with the local tribes of Native Americans, who are not pleased with the colonists taking over their land.

As tensions rise between the two groups, Pocahontas, played by Jody Lawrance, acts as the mediator between the two, trying to prevent a full-blown war from breaking out. Meanwhile, Smith falls out of favor with his fellow colonists due to his relationship with Pocahontas.

The film features plenty of action scenes, including battles between the colonists and the Native Americans. There is also a lot of historical context in the film, with a focus on the difficulties the colonists faced while trying to establish a settlement in the New World.

The acting in the film is solid, with Anthony Dexter giving a convincing performance as Captain John Smith. Jody Lawrance's portrayal of Pocahontas is also quite commendable, giving her character the strength and courage to stand up for what she believes in.

Alan Hale Jr. also makes an appearance in the film as one of the colonists, further adding to the star power of the film. The film also benefits from its impressive production values, with lush landscapes and elaborate sets.

Overall, Captain John Smith And Pocahontas is an entertaining adventure film that tells the story of one of the most important periods in American history. The film does a good job of portraying the complexities of the early colonial period, with a focus on the relationships between the colonists and the Native Americans.
