Watch Dead Birds

The subject of this documentary are the Dani people of New Guinea, who live in one of the last remaining places on Earth that have not been colonized. Its title refers to a fable that the Dani people believe regarding a race that takes place between a bird and a snake to determine the fate of man. If the snake wins, man will live forever, but if the bird wins, man must eventually die. The two central characters are a warrior, Weyak, and a boy named Pua who live in a culture in which the central value is tribal warfare.
