In 1999, Tyler Perry created I Can Do Bad By Myself featuring the character Madea. The basic plot revolves around a family's visit to attend to Madea after she becomes sick, which is further complicated by Madea's additional family problems. Perry's play has been remade as a film in 2005 and 2009, and currently stands as one of the Madea classics.

Tyler Perry created this after the previous Madea film, I Know I've Been Changed, hit theaters. The film features a musical DVD number sung by each of the main characters.
