Watch Mysteries of Lisbon

This Portuguese period costume drama is based on the Camilo Castelo Branco novel. It traces the search conducted by Joao, the love child of two of the aristocracy who were never permitted to get married, to discover the truth about his parents and his heritage. Among the many secrets that Joao is eventually able to uncover include the identities of both his mother and his father, the details of their illicit aristocratic love affair and the main reason they were kept apart, the death of his father, and how he was saved from being murdered when still a baby.
