In 1838, young Francois-Xavier Bouchard returns to Canada from the United States. His self-imposed exile came on the heels of an unsuccessful, earlier rebellion for Quebec independence that had failed. Now, back in his homeland, he unites with Chevalier de Lorimier’s forces to launch another endeavor against the British. This film from Quebec sets fictional characters against a backdrop of real personages to tell a story of justice and loyalty.
