The Iron Rose is a 1973 sexploitation film directed by Jean Rollin. French film critics tended to dismiss Rollin as a second rate film maker, but this movie as gained a lot of critical praise. Rollins is known for utilizing typical horror film motifs and themes such as vampires, zombies and so forth. This movie, however, is more of an experimental film for Rollins. The plot is a vehicle to showcase the cinematography. The film is more about mood and atmosphere that storyline. Fans of Rollin’s other films may be disappointed because this film does not contain vampires, explicit sex or violence, but fans of his movies should certainly check it out.
