This 2003 drama is a film for TV interpretation of James Goldman's clever play. It's the story of King Henry II of England and his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine. They banter about life, love, hate and which of their sons is going to inherit the throne. Glenn Close portrays a strong Eleanor and Sir Patrick Stewart proves to be her able foil as Henry. The script is full of humor and irony along with some great dramatic monologues. Henry's speech when he discovers his sons are betraying him is especially moving. Eleanor's dialogue is filled with sharp and witty remarks that keep Henry on the defensive.
