Dogs of Berlin is a Netflix original series that premiered on December 7, 2018. It's a German crime thriller that revolves around the murder of a popular German-Turkish football player named Orkan Erdem. Two detectives, Kurt Grimmer (Felix Kramer) and Erol Birkan (Fahri Yard?m), are assigned to investigate the case. They have completely different personalities and backgrounds, which creates tension between them from the start.
Grimmer is a corrupt and racist police detective, who's addicted to drugs and alcohol. He's a former neo-Nazi, and his racist beliefs often influence his actions during the investigation. He's married with two children, but his wife is cheating on him with his colleague. Grimmer tries to keep his marriage intact for the sake of his children. However, it's a complicated and dysfunctional family dynamic.
On the other hand, Birkan is a part of the Turkish-German community, and he's much more level-headed and respectful towards all people, regardless of background. He's a devoted family man, who's struggling to balance his duties as a detective with his responsibilities as a husband and father. He's married to a Turkish pop star, Eda (Katharina Sch), who's very famous but also very demanding. Eda is used to getting what she wants, and she's not afraid to manipulate her husband and use his position to her advantage.
As Grimmer and Birkan start to investigate Orkan Erdem's murder, they discover that it's much more complicated than they initially thought. There are multiple suspects, including the victim's sister and his former coach. The investigation takes them deeper into the criminal underworld of Berlin, where they encounter gangs, drug dealers, and corrupt politicians. The detectives start to see the bigger picture of the case, and they realize that it's more than just a murder. It's a political scandal that could bring down the government.
The show tackles various themes, including racism, corruption, politics, and family. It's a gritty and intense drama that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The performances of the main cast are excellent, especially Felix Kramer and Fahri Yard?m, who have great chemistry together despite their characters' differences. Katharina Sch also delivers a standout performance as the controversial pop star Eda, who adds a lot of drama to the show.
Overall, Dogs of Berlin is a must-watch for fans of crime thrillers, especially those who enjoy shows with complex characters and intricate plots. The show's eight episodes are filled with twists and turns, and they keep the audience guessing until the end. The show's setting in Berlin also adds a unique and atmospheric touch to the story. If you're looking for an exciting and engaging series to binge-watch, Dogs of Berlin should definitely be on your list.
